Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls
These easy-to-make cinnamon rolls are prefect for breakfast, brunch, or for serving at family gatherings and special events. They are often made from scratch or for a quicker version some people use pre-made dough. You should check these sweet, rich, and vibrant rolls out you won't regret it!

Ingredients
Dough
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 1 cup milk, warm
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 3 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1-2 tbsp red food coloring gel
Filling
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
Frosting
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp almond extract
- 1/2 tsp cake batter extract
Instructions
- Activate Yeast: Combine warm milk, 1 tbsp sugar, and yeast. Set aside 10 minutes to bloom.
- Make Dough: In a large bowl, mix all dry ingredients. Add vanilla and egg to yeast mixture, then combine with dry ingredients. Add food coloring and softened butter. Mix until shaggy dough forms.
- Knead: On a floured surface, knead 10-15 minutes until dough is smooth and no longer sticky. Shape into a ball and place in greased bowl to rise 1 hour or until doubled.
- Prepare Filling: In a small bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until smooth.
- Roll Dough: Roll dough into rectangle. Spread filling evenly. Roll into a log and cut into 12 rolls (or 6 jumbo rolls).
- Second Rise: Place rolls in greased pan and let rest 30 minutes.
- Bake: Pour heavy cream over rolls. Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes.
- Make Frosting: Mix all frosting ingredients in small bowl on medium-high speed until smooth.
- Serve: Allow rolls to cool 15 minutes, frost generously, and enjoy!
Tips
- Ensure butter is room temperature for smooth filling and frosting.
- Use dental floss to cut rolls cleanly without squishing.
- Adjust red food coloring to get vibrant red dough.
